over the past 18 months I've unlisted over 200 make money online videos meaning these topics were about all things make money online passive income side hustles remote jobs make money website all those types of topics we've seen I mean my channel was only this channel um historically I know and there's hundreds of other channels out there thousands that are still to this day in the make money online Niche and so no one ever well I guess I guess I don't want to say no one but I thought hey no one's really pulled back the curtain on like what's really going on behind the scenes of a niche pivot and what happens when you unlist a ton of videos okay and I'll just say like the first thing that happens that really kind of sucks not going to lie is that from a public point of view when you go to my channel it only shows I think over the lifetime probably now like less than 4 million views right when my channel over its lifetime since I started it in 2018 has gotten almost just under 10 million views it's like 9.6 million views on the channel um and you know I can you can prove that or I can prove that by going into the YouTube Studio clicking on analytics and going Lifetime and it'll show what it's acquired over the lifetime but but publicly you're only going to see around 4 million or maybe less by now because those CH those videos are not public and some of my most heavy-hitting viral videos from my channel have now been set to private or unlisted I'm trying to make them all private because with if they're enlisted if they were on an old playlist they can still get seen and so there's that that kind of sucks right but I thought to myself like and I'm still actually unlisting a lot of my make money online videos in my back catalog um there's some that I've rebranded and that I've left up but let let me just go back to uh what happens when when this happens so traffic let's talk about traffic historically at its prime my channel was very dominant in browse and also suggested video traffic from other channels so this means that um if you go to the traffic sources and overall and the content with the views I'm sorry the videos meaning the long form videos cuz you you can check your traffic for for YouTube shorts but also for your your videos right and a lot of I was getting a lot of traffic from other channels which is where anyone wants to be on YouTube you want your videos to be pulling videos from other channels in your you know that are competitor channels for lack of better words but after their videos end you want to be the next video that's up next like that is literally The Sweet Spot this is how you create the Netflix effect on other people's channels you want to be suggested everywhere all right s uh browse feature that's like the next best thing they're kind of like brother and sister browse traffic is the home feed so this means that your title and thumbnail is showing up on the home feed this is also a very sweet spot because this traffic or this source of traffic the browse feed turns into suggested so that's really good and what else was I going to say about this so that being said my channel un unfortunately has had a dominant percentage in YouTube search so YouTube search is what slows not slows but it can stunt growth exponential growth viral growth for your channel for a long time so my goal right now is to get out of YouTube search traffic as quickly as possible to get my channel back into suggested mode okay and the problem again when your traffic is dependent on search it's slower people are going to find you slower it's just the natural law of the YouTube algorithm that's how it works okay so when people type in you know how to save your marriage from a divorce or whatever it is whatever search traffic they're looking for and they find your video that's good that that's definitely good cuz that's how you get views and subscribers but at the same time it's limiting okay because viral traffic goes so viral when you are suggested versus search because when you're dependent on search traffic you're dependent on the amount of view or times that keyword is getting viewed per month so if you go to TU buddy or keywords everywhere or whatever Search tool and you type in like hey how much is this uh keyword being searched per month and it spits out with a a metric like oh this is getting searched 3,200 times per month on average I like okay well you can see like that's what that keyword is limited to for your channel for that specific video does that make sense um so if you also just kind of side note if you're wondering like well why cuz I get this all the time like why aren't you leaving these videos is public like I'm sorry but I am not just stop asking I'm not going to make them read public like there's a lot of videos that I've left public but there's a lot that are not anymore and there's a few more that I plan to make private because it's just not the vibe of my channel anymore I'm going through a huge double Niche pivot I guess you can say I've pivoted once I've pivoted again I've left my channel I've came back and there's a video I've published on that about that whole story so I'll leave that link uh here to watch that video or in the description but the point is um I'm not going to publish those videos so I apologize if this sounds harsh but just you know sorry just just stop asking I'm not going to make them public again that's you know the history of this channel I no longer align with that energy with that direction the make money online Miche is so toxic in so many different ways because it sends out the wrong signal to a beginner trying to make money online it's showing you results to strategies that people have worked years to achieve it doesn't take into consideration all the other things that you have to do to make a real business online okay it doesn't take into account real wealth generation doesn't take into account showing you how to run the backend the operations growing a team um the spiritual right the spiritual and the mindset behind doing this so many viewers of mine and people in the past they would complain on my videoos saying oh I've tried all your methods which I doubt but I've tried all your methods and I'm not getting results I'm not getting results I'm not getting results it's just like oh my God you're not getting results for so many reasons and the main reason is is because the thing between your ears your your mindset and your spirituality is so ass backwards right um and that's that's the thing it's like when you're when you're trying to produce results in some way and get momentum the fir the thing that has to come first and foremost and to be focused and calm and at peace is is your spir spirituality and your mindset and if you're constantly in panic mode and um having the the shiny object syndrome and going from method to method to method to try to produce results and you keep focus on focusing on why you can't produce results and how to make $100 a day and oh let me let me go to this video it's saying like how easy copy clone my blah blah business and start producing 10K a month ASAP it's just this vicious cycle that you're never going to get out of right or not maybe not you but somebody and that's why I'm just like I cannot with the toxic make money online anymore and so you know if you're if you've been following me from way back in the day and you're still here on this channel thank you but I'm just not going to I'm just not going to have that on my channel anymore I'll have some of it because I do believe in like yes um it's important to show the journey along the way that's why I've left a lot of my videos from the past public right those that have quality tutorials on different online business topics like email marketing affiliate marketing Etc I've left a lot of Vlogs up there from my days of traveling as a digital Nomad because a lot of people nowadays are traveling and working remote those are still super helpful videos so the things that I can justify um and leave up I I will and I have but though that that Narrative of MMO I just can't anymore so I've unlisted and made those private um the other thing I wanted to touch on was this in theory when you unlist a video uh or make it private for that matter you're telling the algorithm like hey I know I I am not going to attract this type of audience anymore on your channel so if if you are going through a niche P it it is essential in my opinion to unlist the videos that you don't want to attract traffic anymore because one it's going to keep attracting or telling the algorithm like yeah I'm cool with attracting this audience that I don't really want to attract anymore just for the sake of continuing to keep views and Subs on my channel unfortunately that's just going to continue to confuse the algorithm and it's like you have to just cut that off as hard as it is and it's going to feel like you're shooting your brand in the foot trust me I know but in order for the algorithm to stop bringing new viewers to your channel for these keywords like MMO or just whatever your Chanel just in my case is MMO um it's it's it's going to be hard but you have to cut that off right you have to close the valve on these videos that are attracting right so that you can start building your back catalog into the pivot that you were going into right the new topics on your channel so anyway I hope that's helpful but that is what's going on behind the scenes um the other thing that I mentioned before is the subscriber loss when you pivot when you you know unlist and make a transition you're going to lose subscribers it's just part of the detox phase right I've already lost how many about at least 6,000 subscribers in the past 18 months um and some continue to TW to dwindle away and so my thing is it's like okay and that's why right now like literally if you're asking like how to revive a de a dead Channel and I'm taking you through my journey on how I'm doing this how I plan to stop the bleeding stop so many subscribers leaving is I'm doing a a Content Blitz and a lot of creators are not willing to do this but I am right now in the middle this is literally my 16th video that I'm filming um of 30 so I'm doing a Content Blitz of 30 videos in 30 days who knows maybe I'll keep it going but uh this is for me to reset on YouTube so I I think yesterday it was I went to my channel keywords and I had forgotten that those Channel keywords were like you know beginner things like passive income uh side hustles and all and uh what else was on there make money online how to start a business like the channel keyword so when you go to setting or YouTube studio and then you go to settings and then let me just and then after that you click on the second tab where it says Channel basic info right there keywords you want to fill up the entire 500 characters with your new Niche right with whatever you're pivoting to and I I just did this yesterday um thank goodness I did it before this content Blitz officially goes out but I was like oh man this has been in there forever so that's definitely a setting you want to change so anyways I just thought it was interesting to share you know what happens when you unlist a ton of videos when you go through a a niche pivot um and just know like hey if you're in the same spot as me we're going through this together like you're not the only one hopefully you don't feel alone after watching this
